2023 Library Impact Report

Basic Numbers Data stating that 31,375 people came to the library, there were 609 library events, library accounts increased by 8%, there were 40,190 unique library website visitors, 138,344 = library circulation, and GPL has 1,633,860 digital & physical items to check out.

New Accounts vs. Renewals. 23% were new accounts, 77% were renewals.
Circulation chart over the past decade. 2023's circulation was the all-time record of 138,344. This is 29,536 more than last year, and it beats the previous record by 12,002!
How patrons invested in resources. Just over 75% were physical resources, and the rest digital.
In-Person Library Use pie chart. 27,517, or 44% of the people used a resource. That's 15,168 more than in 2022. 19,101, or 31% browsed the collection. That's 4,967 more than 2022. 15,805, or 25% attended a program. That's 3,456 more than the previous year.
For every square foot of space in both library buildings, GPL packed them with 16 activities. Factor in the total circulation numbers, such as eResource use, then the building provide 35 useful services per square foot!
Library Program Attendance stacked bar charts for 2022 and 2023. In 2022, 10,630 people attended children's events. In 2023 that increased to 11,699. In 2022, 989 people attended teen programs. In 2023 that increased to an all-time record-breaking 1,891. In 2022, 775 adults attended programs. It was decreased in 2023 to 556. Finally, in 2022, 78 people attended multi-generational events. That increased to 1,650 in 2023.

Library Return on Investment was 173%! For every $1 the Gretna community invested in their library, GPL converted it into $1.73 for the community.
