Kanopy’s New Ticket System

Kanopy play credits are changing to a great new ticket system. At the beginning of each month, users will receive a 15 ticket allotment. Keep in mind that tickets do not roll over from month to month.

This update provides users clear insights into how many tickets are required and how long they’ll have to watch a title or series before pressing play.

Here’s what to expect in the Kanopy experience:

Four Important Notes:

1. The Great Courses now require tickets. The number of tickets and viewing period is clearly labeled for each course. You can watch as many Great Courses as your ticket allotment allows each month.

2. After starting a video, you can watch it as many times as you’d like within the viewing period without using more tickets.

3. Some titles, like Kanopy Kids, do not require tickets.

4. For episodic titles, like TV series and The Great Courses, you can see what content the tickets unlock (e.g. “Season1” or “all”). You have access to a Continue Watching shelf so you can pick up where you left off and see how much time remains.

As always, please speak with a librarian if you have any questions about Kanopy overall, or the specifics of this new system.

Enjoy streaming!
