Glass Recycling

Glass is an endlessly, 100% recyclable resource that unfortunately makes it into the trash stream. In an effort to revert glass into the cycle and keep Gretna green, Gretna Public Library accepts cleaned, emptied glass on the last Saturday of each month during open hours.

To drop-off your glass, visit either library location during opening hours on the last Saturday of the month and speak to the front desk. Dropped-off glass is kept in a staff-only location until the end of the day, at which point staff transports the glass to a Ripple Glass bin in Omaha. It is best to bring glass in cardboard boxes or paper bags which can also be recycled at the drop-off location, but staff are able to empty and return containers at drop-off if desired.

For any other questions, or if interested in volunteering on glass recycling days, please fill out the Contact Us form.

BONUS: Cardboard boxes and paper bags that the glass is brought in with also get recycled!
