Friends of the Gretna Public Library

The Friends of the Gretna Public Library is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose main purpose is to raise funds to supplement the budget of the Library. In the past the Friends have helped to sponsor library programs, purchase prize books, computers, shelving units, and even furniture for our libraries.
Friends of the Library are non-profit groups of volunteers who support their local libraries in a variety of ways:
- Fundraise: Raise money to support library projects, such as purchasing books, equipment, and materials. They host events like bake sales or author events. GPL’s Friends organize and maintain the ongoing book sale at the Main Library.
- Advocacy: Attend meetings and spread the word about the library’s services. Also, may work to influence public opinion on local, state, and national issues that affect libraries.
- Volunteer: Sometimes provide volunteer help for library projects, such as book sales, summer learning events, and more.
- Promote: Point out to others why and how the library is a vital part of the community.
